William Morris Acanthus Slim Wallet

The curling acanthus leaf runs through William Morris's work more than any other motif, and the 1875 Acanthus wallpaper is its fullest statement, densely naturalistic where his later patterns turned flatter and more formal. It was among the most technically demanding papers his printers ever produced, requiring dozens of separate hand-cut blocks to build up the shading in a single repeat.
