Mary Engelbreit has been drawing this world from her St. Louis studio for more than forty years, starting with a line of twelve greeting cards and building it into a style everyone recognizes on sight: bright color laid over strong black outlines, black-and-white checkerboard borders, and a cherry tucked in somewhere. The cherry is her hallmark. It is even painted on her office door.
